If any of these dimensions of Whole Self are out of balance, they will have an effect on each other, and our overall experiences. Each dimension has the capacity to support the other into wellness and light, or to bring it down into a place of darkness and despair.
When we look at the Whole Self, we consider all of these dimensions, however, there is another dimension at play, that being the Soul. This is the power centre that all knows, of the Past, Present, and Future aspects of the Whole Soul Self. Our Soul has a number of quests programmed for us to follow in order for it to grow and expand, and each dimension of Whole Self plays a part to achieve these quests. At times, one or more of the dimensions of Whole Soul Self is wounded, and this will have an effect on all parts, but particularly on the Spirit body, the light carrier, that will be dimmed by challenging life experiences. When this light is dimmed, the consciousness driven by the Wounded Heart of the past draws vibrationally on familiar past experiences to add to the experience, and soon one may feel lost in the darkness. The Wounded Heart is a Record Keeper at Soul-conscious level, and this may be an unconscious experience. Ancestral and Past/Other Life woundings are recorded by the Soul, and hidden quests for healing and restoration are at play. This is the Bigger Picture, and can go beyond personal experience into the archetypal realms of Universal Soul (of Humanity and all existence) consciousness.
As one ventures out on the overt and covert quests of life, the dimension of Spirit may be operating in full light, part light, or with little light to guide the way. It is possible to revisit the journey of the Wounded Heart, both on a personal, ancestral, other life, and soul conscious level, to reclaim and restore the parts of Whole Self that have dropped away into the darkness along the way of the Soul. This restoration of Whole Self – of the True Heart Nature – is also known as Soul Retrieval. To Reclaim the Spirit, is to reclaim the truth and restore this to Whole Soul consciousness.
For the Spirit of Whole Soul Self to operate at a high level, all dimensions of Self will be in play. This can be measured best when we tune into each dimension individually. When we feel happy, nurtured, loved, and content, our Heart energy is strong and generous. Our Mind will be still, focused, and clear around the way forward. Our Bodies and surrounding environment will be grounded, strong, bountiful and healthy. And, our Spirit will be free, uplifted, shining, and joyful.
Reclaiming the parts of the spiritual dimension that have dropped away, and been overtaken by the Wounded Heart, is a major factor in restoring the Whole Soul Self and to assist the True Heart to be fully operational. When the Spirit of Whole Soul Self feels connected and alive, illuminated by the Truth of Self in a kind, mindful, and tangible way, it is alive and free. It is like the fuel that we use to come fully alive and into our potential so we can make our difference.
Our spirit body becomes strong when we can identify the truth of who we are and have the courage and self-confidence to walk strongly in the world, on our own true path. When we know what drives us to walk in this way, we have found our fuel, our purpose, and our guiding flame. Part of reclaiming one’s Spirit, it to know oneself well, to understand and be true to the values that give life meaning. We often think we know who we are and can judge ourselves harshly when the Wounded Heart is operational. These judgments may have come from childhood, ancestral, past or other life, and soul consciousness experiences. Part of reclaiming the Spirit is to track the limiting beliefs back to their origin, not to seek out details and story so much, but to locate and them in their place, and untangle and surrender their ties to present day existence. Illuminating, validating, and surrendering the legacy of the Wounded Heart can be done symbolically, guided by shamanic processes and ancient wisdom.
The journey to reclaim the Spirit is a multi-dimensional one that has an overall effect on Whole Soul Self consciousness. When our Spirit Self energy is aligned with the True Heart, all else falls naturally and easily into place. Our Spirit Body becomes the fuel – the light – that illuminates the inner flame so Heart Self can love fully, Mind Self can conceive the highest visions, and Physical Self can be fully committed and functional. All dimensions are operating within what is known as the Sacred Circle Map of Whole Self (see diagram) that is govern by the True Heart based on truth rather than the myths and patterns of the Wounded Heart. In the words of James Hollis. PhD (2010, What Matters Most, Living a More Considered Life):
“Sooner or later, we all outgrow the previous map, the myth to which we were in service, whether knowingly or not. These moments, these intermodal moments, can be extremely painful, but they point either to the inadequacy of our map to effectively describe the terrain we traverse, or represent an inner, compelling summons of the soul to grow and develop a better one” (p.161).
By reclaiming the Spirit and standing by the truth of who we really are, beneath masks of illusion, we become strong enough to challenge the myths of the Wounded Heart, and to command our Soul to step up to be the person we know we can be, and (re)claim the right to live our dreams!
Author’s Footnote: In 2013 I was woken one night with a vision from the Great Spirit. In this vision I was told that one day I would hold the space for a number of teachers to join together united in the purpose to assist others to ‘reclaim their spirit’ – that is, to reclaim the truth of who they really are, beneath the masks they where to exist and co-exist in a spiritually unbalanced world. I was given details of how it would all unfold. At the time my life was taking a huge diversion with relocation as part of the plan, and I argued with Great Spirit saying I didn’t have the time to divert my path onto such a huge quest. Putting the quest to one side, I smiled when it arrived once again at my doorstep a few months prior to writing this article. I have now arranged to hold the first workshop of this “Reclaim the Spirit” project, and am grateful and blessed to have Aunty Wynn Te Kani, a Maori Community Elder and dear friend, by my side, and Aunty Edna van Hemmen of Jinabarra peoples holding space for us all nearby. This first of many gatherings will be held Sunday morning at Samford on October 4, 2015. More details on my Events Queensland page.
