I searched google for the source of this quote without success - but thats ok - I am sure it will surface.
But what does it mean?
and have you felt that way?
Is this what they call 'rock bottom'. When one hits that place of realisation that it seemingly can't get any worse - but of course it usually can. It just feels like it at the time. And in that moment of being consumed by panic and helplessness, when the last of your power and life force energy is about to drain totally, it is so tempting to give in - to give up hope.
Or is it just before you hit rock bottom - when you can still have the realisation that there is nothing to lose as you have given it your all, done you best, and in that moment - you realise that all you have left is you and life itself - and indeed a blank canvas to create new dreams - new beginnings. And, if you truly do give up all attachment to old dreams, with no expectations, no baggage, you have everything to gain, with limit possibilities in beginning anew.
Releasing your power over troubling circumstances out of your control - that is releasing control itself - allows the energy of control to shapeshift into something else. When control becomes 'surrender and release' a 'shift' in energy happens, and the energy itself changes 'shape' . This new energy takes on the form of freedom - freedom of choice. It is up to you what you fill the void with. You can choose to continue to feel powerless, to resent, to blame - or you can truly let go through detachment and by trusting in the journey create a new energy of peace, serenity, and openness. It is up to you.
This is the way of the Peaceful Warrior, and 'Mana wa hele', the third of The 8 Ways that support you to live the life you to be the person you want to be and live the life you want to live. (me).
As I write this I find myself smiling - remember - when you choose to look at eyes through the True Heart rather than the Wounded Heart, you simply have to smile and... 'a smile will set you free' (me).
