Every day presents an opportunity to expand energetically in consciousness, confidence, creation, and loving connection. I sit today reflecting on energy and how it works. Energy and the ‘whole self’ is one of my favourite subjects, as is ‘manifesting’ and fulfilling dreams. In this article I will attempt to address and inform each of these subjects, showing how they can be woven together to create balance in all areas of life.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is possible.
With so much to 'do', it can at time seem challenging to find the time to simply ‘be’. If we don't take time to sit back and take a breath and be present with life, finding meaning for existence, and evaluating how and where we are going, we may cause an imbalance in our energy field. As a consequence, there will be more energy going out than coming in.
The same can be said for 'pondering' too much, where we spend more time and energy thinking about what we can do or could have done, when taking action may bring the very gifts we seek.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is liberating and rewarding.
Understanding Energy
Energy is what drives and fuels us at every level, and keeps us physically well and productive, emotionally sound and balanced, mindfully aware, optimistic, spiritually alive and authentic.
Most of the time the energy that we produce and use is an unconscious process. Although we may feel affected by it, we are often uncertain as to what has created what we feel. For example, we may feel melancholy, guilty, angry, ashamed, worried, for no apparent reason. It is during these times that we can be fairly certain that we are chorded into energy imprints from past situations, or we have connected an energy chord to someone else or a situation. This can happen both with people we know, and people and situations that we are not directly in relationship with such as worldwide events that you may see on the news or hear about.
Energy Imprints:
Energy Imprints are energy that is created past and/or present situations that have imprinted and created emotional residue within our energy field. Left over energy from unresolved issues leaves its impression in our energy field, absorbed and imprinted by thoughts, feelings, experiences, reflections, and regret. It can also be imprinted by other peoples’ thoughts and projections.
Energy imprints can have both a detrimental and empowering effect. They carry either light or heavy energy. They will fill or drain, expend or expand, energy.
Examples of the kind of feelings, thoughts and stares of mind that may create heavy and draining energy between us or a situation – from the past, present, or future are:
Criticism, stress, worry, anxiety, shame, guilt, sadness, sorrow, suffering, loneliness, yearning, grief, longing, missing, anger, doubt, and fear or even fearful sympathy.
Examples of feelings, thoughts, words, intentions and visions that create light beams and energising chords of energy are:
Understanding, love, hope, enthusiasm, trust, joy, gratitude, faith, prayer, blessings, validation, praise, positive intention and visioning, empathy combined with optimism, kindness, generosity, and acts of celebration.
Tools for Transformation:
Chord pulling, chakra light work, prayer, ceremony, mandalas, sound, art, visioning, holistic professional and personal therapy for body, heart, mind, and spirit, and using the elements of fire, water, air, and earth, are all creative tools to enhance, transform, and expand energy.
A Whole Self, balanced approach can be healing and transformational.
The Meaning of the Whole Self
So what do I mean when I am referring to the Whole Self? This is where I turn to the teachings of the Sacred Circle Map which is a tool I use as the foundation for the path of Shamanic Path and Practice (SPP) that I teach. It would take too long to share all the teaching of the Sacred Circle Map that I am aware of, so I will outline the relevant parts to energy and manifesting.
Four Major Parts of Self:
The basic teachings of the Sacred Circle Map in SPP tell us that we have four major parts of Self – the body, heart, mind, and spirit that make up the whole self. Each part of self has many contributing aspects, and all parts support and affect each other. When one is out of balance, the chance is there will be other parts involved some how in that imbalance. For example, if someone is suffering from depression, seemingly a condition of the mind and mental health, the condition may be caused by depletion in energy of the heart centre. It is also possible the person suffering depression may not be focusing energy and attention into their physical world of health and/or wealth-creation. This can affect the amount of energy being used and created in their over all sense of well being. Depression is a sign that the energy flow has slowed down, and that the spirit has disconnected with the body or has been depressed – pressed down – held back. Loss of libido and passion for life can occur when our spirit energy is depleted.
With a condition such as depression, rather than seeing solely as a condition of the mind, I would consider the client as having a depressed spirit – the person’s spirit is in need of love, care and attention. Crossing the Sacred Circle Map to access the healing powers stored in the heart centre may be the clue. I would ask myself - How can this person find ways to increase and express the energetic flow of ‘love’ in their life? It would well assist them. I might also go to other areas of the circle – to the body to track hidden energetic imprints, or work with them on a cognitive level to make plans to encourage exercise and self-care, and to set goals and install positive affirmations.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is healing and empowering.
In summary, when my clients arrive with a particular issue I will encourage them to look at the Sacred Circle Map, a map of the whole of Self, to see which area needs attention and care, not just the part of self that seems to be connected with the major issue. Having a Whole Self map gives me a clue as to where to work with clients, and as a first port of call, I tend to go to the other side of the circle to search for balance and the answers to healing.
For example:
A client who is trapped in their mind may be experiencing too many thoughts and indecisions – too much self-criticism – too much contemplation and looking back into the past with regret; perhaps they are swamped with ideas but keep putting off taking action. To bring balance, I will assist my client to look at the opposite side of their circle of Self – the tactile world of physical health and wealth – and together we might explore:
· How much exercise they are doing?
· How much time are they taking to self-care?
· What is their diet like?
· How much time do they spend outdoors in nature?
· I would be curious to find out it they are taking action on their ideas and goals, or are they procrastinating?
· How can they set small goals and steps with clear time frames and drivers to commit to gradual change and expansion?
Or we might turn to the heart, and evaluate:
· How much energy is being invested in nurturing loving relationships?
· Are they in touch with their own or other people’s feelings?
Or we might turn to the direction of their spirit to define:
· What is their level of self-confidence in their capacity to create change?
· Or, how clear they are in their life’s purpose?
A Whole Self, balanced approach creates clarity and direction.
The Whole Self and Manifesting
Using the Sacred Circle map of the Whole Self is important when considering your dreams, visions, purpose or mission, and your ongoing goals and tasks. I have found that by encouraging clients to map out and measure each area of their life they can see where and how much energy they are expending and expanding. Assessing your life in this way helps you to clarify where your strengths are, and where you need to invest more and less energy. It is a simple, clear, and powerful approach to dreaming, visioning and directing your way in life.
Your Vision:
Be clear in your Vision - which is how you see your life when it is in full energetic flow - in body (health and wealth) in heart (relationships and emotional wellbeing – love and connection) in mind (communication with self, and High Self and mindfulness), in and in spirit (sense of identity, self-worth, purpose, joy, and sexual/creative/passionate flow). Follow these steps to clarify your vision and increase the energy around it:
· Include how your vision will feel as well as look when it is finally fulfilled by imagining a symbol in nature that will represent your vision, for example, you might see how you feel as looking like a strong healthy tree in full bloom or fruit.
· Find a picture of or draw your symbol and stick it somewhere you can see it every day.
· Write words of affirmation around the image of your vision, and say these out loud every day
· Study your symbol every day to reveal a clue as to what step to take toward it’s manifestation.
· And, constantly look for signs from the Universe and Nature to show you the way.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is revealing.
Your Mission:
Write down your Mission - your Why? Ask yourself:
· What opportunities are you opening up for yourself by creating your vision?
· What is your greater mission here on earth in relationship to humanity, the planet, and the Universe?
· What will drive you there?
Next - Write down your mission as a declaration to inspire you into action and keep you on track : I will share my own mission statement here:
"I aspire to inspire all those who journey with me to connect with the True Nature and to step up and out with confidence to meet their dreams, keeping an open heart in love and gratitude always, and all ways".
Get to know your mission statement off by heart to keeps you on track and remind you why you are here in case your find yourself feeling like you are off track. However, remember also that we are always on the right path, we sometimes take diversions that eventually will most likely bring us gifts of greater awareness and finally steer us into a more powerful direction. This may even result in your vision and mission to change. Be open to change, for the Universe may have an even greater vision and mission for you.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is inspiring.
Taking Action and Goals:
While having clarity around your vision and mission is essential to having a conscious experience of creation and expansion, and will give the Universe clear direction as to what you want and are open to, taking action and the steps to assist the unfolding of your dreams helps you to have confidence that you can do something to manifest you dreams, as a co-creator of your life.
Taking action can involve the Whole Self, and setting goals for each part of self each day will create balance and a feeling of security and wholeness. For example:
· What action will you take to support the vision for your Spirit today – to expand your self-confidence? To be clearer about your vision or mission? To release creative and sexual flow to be in union with Divine Flow?
· What action will you take today to support your physical body to feel energized and in full flow?
· What action will you take to increase your sense of financial well-being and abundance?
· What action will you take to increase loving connection in your relationships – with self and others?
· What action will you take today to become more aware, observant of your inner most thoughts, to create consciously with your mind.
Make sure your list of actions, or goals, have a time frame, and clear steps. They may be targeted over the next 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days, and include a First Step. This will assist you to move closer to your dreams, and for them to move closer to you. It will also help to have a When? a What? and How will I feel? built into your steps to motivate and drive you to success. I sometimes also include room for celebration as an extra motivation and something to look forward to.
By writing down your feelings as if they are happening now, the energy created will shift from feeling like your dreams and visions are ‘out of your reach’ to being ‘absolutely possible’, as you experience a taste of what it will be like when you reach your goals. However, you are not fooling yourself into thinking it has already happened, as your goals are clear with deadlines for focused action to keep you on track. This is using your Whole Self energetically to support you to success – your body, heart, mind, and spirit. When you need a reminded of “Why?” you are going out on a limb for this to happen – turn to your Vision and Mission Statements to drive you into completion of each goal and step.
An example of writing down clear actions and goals:
3 Months:
In 3 months time I will have met my goal of writing 12 articles on energy ready for publication, and will see the evidence of how my weekly column on energy has supported people to expand and grow by the comments I have received from readers, and the growing reader distribution figures. This makes me feel so proud that I have followed through, and grateful for this opportunity to make my difference.
3 Weeks:
In 3 weeks time from today, I will have sent in my first article to the on-line magazine that has invited me to do this. I will celebrate by sharing the good news with friends. I am so happy and excited to have reached my goals so far.
3 Days:
By this Saturday, I will have written and edited my first article. I am ‘on track’ and it feels great.
The First Step: By 3pm today, I will have marked the deadline dates in my diary for when each article will need to be written by. I am feeling focused and clear, and one step closer to my vision of making a difference come true.
A Whole Self, balanced approach will drive you to fulfillment.
Old Patterns:
For those of you who have a tendency to procrastinate and constantly block yourself when taking the steps to meet your dreams, it is recommended that you spend some time clarifying what hidden beliefs and psychic imprints you may have stored in your energy field that continue to appear to block your path to success. Be aware, I use the word appear, because you are on a path of empowerment here so you can always be focused on expanding your energy field with your conscious thoughts and words. Instead of seeing your ‘blocks’ as something that prevent you from manifesting your dreams, why not choose to see them as those opportunities that assist you into greater awareness of self, and self-empowerment. They can even be fun if you choose to explore them in a shamanic way, that is, by travelling back to their origin, and finding out where they have come from, and why:
· Perhaps they have come about from unfinished business in your life so far?
· They may have come from patterns that you have observed and inherited from significant care-givers and role models?
· Perhaps they have even been handed down from one generation to the next?
· It may be that you have stored them in your soul’s code and re-birthed them as unfinished business from another life?
· Or perhaps you created them yesterday or last week from thoughts you had when you set your goal or task?
These questions may take some time to explore and answer for yourself, and you may do well to have a professional in such matters guide your to bring limiting patterns to the light and support you in their transformation. You can begin however by challenging them and whether they are true or not. Simply bringing them to the light and validating their creation at the time, while being certain that their time and use has passed, can assist them to transform in the moment. Try creating a counter affirmation for each belief that you discover, or finish a limiting statement with an uplifting, counter statement that places your limiting belief firmly in the past.
For example:
I can’t possible find the time to write an article every week – when turned over becomes:
There is more than enough time in my week to find time to write an article when I know that it will lead me to fulfill my dream of becoming a published author.
Or:
In the past I believed their wasn’t enough time to write an article every week, however since I have befriended the Spirit of Time, I am finding I have more than enough time to finish this worthy task.
Please make sure you actually do befriend the Sprit of Time in the mean time – it is well worth the effort and will enrich your life beyond your imagination.
A Whole Self, balanced approach is enriching.
